A Dream Wedding at Newburgh Priory

Set on the edge of the beautiful Howardian Hills near Coxwold, Newburgh Priory is one of North Yorkshire's most enchanting wedding venues. Combining centuries of history with elegant gardens and breathtaking countryside views, it offers couples an exclusive setting for a truly memorable wedding day.

Whether you're dreaming of an outdoor ceremony amongst ancient ruins, a relaxed drinks reception on the lawn, or a sophisticated celebration inside the historic house, Newburgh Priory offers a wonderful blend of luxury and character.

We were delighted to return to Newburgh Priory to perform for Leah and Alex's wedding, providing live music throughout their guest arrival, ceremony and drinks reception.

An Unforgettable Outdoor Ceremony

One of the highlights of Newburgh Priory is its incredible choice of ceremony locations.

Leah and Alex were fortunate enough to enjoy a beautiful celebrant-led ceremony in the historic priory ruins. As the Yorkshire sunshine arrived just in time, guests experienced one of the most unique outdoor ceremony settings in the county.

The ceremony was beautifully conducted by Melody Diamond Yorkshire Celebrant, whose warm and personal approach perfectly complemented the relaxed atmosphere of the day.

For couples considering an outdoor wedding, Newburgh Priory offers an unforgettable backdrop that feels intimate, romantic and completely different from a traditional wedding venue.

Live String Quartet Music for the Ceremony

Music plays an important role in creating atmosphere throughout a wedding day, and Leah and Alex selected a wonderfully personal soundtrack.

Their music included:

  • Groom's Entrance:Glasgow Love Theme from Love Actually

  • Bridal Entrance:One Day Like This by Elbow

Before the ceremony we welcomed guests with live music, helping to create a calm and elegant atmosphere as everyone took their seats.

Live string quartet music works particularly well at Newburgh Priory, complementing the venue's historic surroundings while adding a touch of sophistication to every part of the celebration.

Drinks Reception in the Gardens

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks outside while making the most of Newburgh Priory's beautiful gardens and spectacular views.

We continued performing throughout the drinks reception, providing a relaxed soundtrack as guests chatted, enjoyed photographs and celebrated with the newlyweds.

A string quartet is ideal during this part of the day because it creates an elegant atmosphere without dominating conversations, allowing guests to mingle naturally while still enjoying live music.
