There’s something particularly special about live string music during a wedding drinks reception. Once the ceremony has finished and guests begin to relax, mingle and enjoy a drink, a string quartet can create an elegant atmosphere without taking attention away from the couple or their guests.
That was exactly what we enjoyed providing for Millie and Pierce’s wedding at Saltmarshe Hall in East Yorkshire where The Fern Quartet performed during their drinks reception.

We were delighted to return to Saltmarshe Hall to provide live music for Millie and Pierce.
For their wedding drinks reception, we performed in the beautiful library at the venue. It was a wonderful setting for a string quartet, with the elegant surroundings providing a relaxed backdrop while guests gathered together after the ceremony.
The drinks reception is one of our favourite parts of a wedding to play for. Unlike the ceremony, where the music has a very specific role and timing, the drinks reception gives us the opportunity to create a continuous musical atmosphere while guests chat, enjoy refreshments and celebrate with the newlyweds.

A Beautiful Setting for Live String Music
The library at Saltmarshe Hall was a particularly enjoyable place for us to perform.
And, as musicians, we couldn't resist having a little look at the books around us between sets!
There was quite an eclectic selection, including a rather intriguing 1985 publication entitled Jobs to Do at Home on the Weekend. We couldn't help wondering whether people really did have considerably more time on their hands back then!
It was a lovely little detail that added to the character of the room.
