Blessed with lovely weather, guests arrived to sunshine and stunning views across the estate, creating a wonderful atmosphere for the celebrations. The historic church provided a beautiful setting for the couple's ceremony, with the sound of live strings adding an elegant and personal touch throughout.

The natural acoustics allow the warm sound of a string quartet to fill the church without amplification, creating an intimate atmosphere that recorded music simply can't replicate. What music did we perform?
As guests were seated, The Fern String Quartet performed a carefully chosen selection of music including Your Song by Elton John, Caribbean Blue by Enya, One Day Like This by Elbow, and Viva La Vida by Coldplay, creating a warm and welcoming ambience ahead of the ceremony.
The bridal party made their entrance to a special arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon in D, while the congregation joined together for the hymn Give Me Oil in My Lamp. During the signing of the register, the quartet performed Franz Schubert's Ave Maria alongside Coldplay's much-loved Yellow, providing a beautiful backdrop to this memorable moment.
As newlyweds Harry and Eliza made their joyful exit, The Fern String Quartet played All You Need Is Love by The Beatles, bringing the ceremony to a cheerful and celebratory close.
It was a wonderful occasion and a pleasure for The Fern String Quartet to be part of such a special day at the stunning St Mary's Church at the Kirkby Fleetham Estate. We wish Harry and Eliza every happiness for the future.
Planning your music for a church wedding
We love performing for church ceremonies as the accustics really lend themselves to string ensembles. We encourage our couples to choose music that has deep meaning for them, whilst also considering what is appropriate to the location. This is where a chat with your Vicar / Minister or Priest is advised.
Before the ceremony we can perform a mix of classical or religious music while the guests take their seat and settle. We can then play for any part of the service that you wish to have music for. This can include:
